The Back Country 6.85' is OEV's pop-up slide-in truck camper, engineered specifically for off-road durability without sacrificing comfort. It starts with the same foundation as every OEV product and adds a soft wall system designed to survive what hard sides can't.
The Soft Wall Innovation
The Back Country's soft walls use a four-layer construction that most competitors don't come close to:
- Exterior layer: Coated nylon with UV protection
- Internal layer: Nylon to prevent punctures
- Insulation layer: Hydrophobic, breathable media
- Inside layer: Fire-rated coated canvas
The floor and walls use OEV's proprietary Gen 4 composite panels, 1.5 inches thick with an R8 insulation value. That means reliable thermal protection from high summer heat down to genuine cold-weather camping.

Climate control comes standard with a Truma Vario Heat furnace with thermostat, a multi-speed roof vent with roller blind, and the Truma Aquago on-demand hot water system. You're not roughing it. You're just going farther.
A Kitchen That Travels With You
The kitchen features a stainless steel cooktop and sink with flush-mount glass tops that double as counter space when you need them. Optional upgrades include a single burner induction cooktop and a 65L Dometic compressor refrigerator.
Sleeping
The Back Country sleeps two comfortably. The main bed is a queen-size 4" mattress that extends to king. The dinette converts to a 32" x 77" bed, useful for a third person or extra gear storage.
Cutting-Edge Electrical System
The electrical setup is built for serious use:
- USB charging ports and 12V auxiliary connections throughout
- LED interior lighting
- Victron Orion-tr Smart 12/30 DC/DC charger
- Optional 220W solar panels with Victron Smart Solar MPPT controller
The DC-to-DC charger keeps your camper batteries topped up from the truck's alternator while you drive. Add solar and you're genuinely off-grid capable.
